About your Host
CM Sears (she/they) is an essayist, poet, fiction writer, and MFA-interdisciplinary artist. CM graduated with a Master of Arts from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI, returning to school after a long career as a professional dancer. Recent fiction publications of their work can be found in the American Book Review, The Hare’s Paw Literary Journal, Isele Magazine, the Sad Girl’s Club Lit, and elsewhere. CM’s performance texts and dance scores and dance theater scripts have been presented by the the DLEctricity Festival, Detroit Dance exchange, (Detroit) the Hot Prospects Festival (Brooklyn) and by Wonderfool Productions (Ann Arbor) and by the Glastonbury Festival of the Performing Arts ( England). Their visual art has been shown in Chicago, and other places in the US and abroad. CM's essay on poet Muriel Rukeyser and dancer Martha Graham is forthcoming in 2025 in the book, Revisiting Modernist Texts (by Lexington Books.) Christina-Marie is also a dancer/choreographer and interdisciplinary artist. She practices the following dance forms: American Classics- Jazz, Modern, Tap, Sacred Rhythms, and European Folk Dance: Ballet, specializing in body-friendly ballet.
While she currently is promoting her album MOMENTS with the Haiku and Jazz Ensemble, and working as a writer and teaching artist, she continues to dance professionally through her performance project “GreenDances” and with Terpsichore’s Collective. She also knits incessantly, is a collagist and a collector of natural and unusual materials.
Christina’s mantra is “Be the Change You Wish to See in the World,” and she is
cultivating anti-racism, mindfulness and sustainable cultural change.
